Coventry Driveways
You'll fall for one of our Driveway options!
There are many different types of driveways available and even within a particular driveway type there can be additional options such as colour, drainage requirements and patterns to consider.
We can help you through the options to find the ideal driveway for you, your budget and your landscape. Whether it is Tarmac, Block Paving, Indian Stone paving, Cobbles, Resin, Imprinted concrete or simply gravel chippings we provide you with a visually impressive and unique driveway. Let's talk.
Tarmac Driveways Coventry
Whilst tarmac is often associated with black and as a result many people will look for alternative these days there are a number of other colours and shade available such as reds, orange, beige, green, blues and greys.
A tarmac driveway remains a popular choice and for those with existing worn tarmac driveway resurfacing may be an options depending on the existing state of your drive. It remains one of the more cost effective options but in recent months all driveway materials have been fluctuating in price with much more volatility so we're happy to price up a few different options for your new driveway
Whilst tarmac and asphalt are often used interchangeably they are not exactly the same. In actual fact asphalt is the slightly more superior of the two but tarmac's legacy has led to it being used as the catch all name for this type of driveway. Asphalt is slightly smoother and it is more resistant to oil or diesel spills. Spills of this nature can call tarmac to loosen and once that happens it is more prone to damage and weed grown unless the damaged area is repaired quickly.
Resin Driveways Coventry
This will generally be the most sought after or requested driveway but it's high price means that whilst many people will want a resin driveway when it comes to the final decision it is left on the shelf. A Resin Driveway looks great and is quite low maintenance but if not maintained it can start to dull over time. There is now such a wide range of colour options you should definitely be able to find one everyone can agree on.
If you are looking to select a resin driveway it will be more costs effective to get as much done in one go so if you are also thinking of updating your patio and pathway to it then getting your resin patio done at the same time as your driveway makes sense.
When talking about resin driveways or resin patio you should be aware that there are two different techniques which provide different attributes and therefore differ in cost too. If you are getting several quotations be sure to check which resin installation you are being priced up for. The two options for resin are:
Resin Bound Driveways
This is the proper way to install resin and the one we would always recommend. Quite simply the resin binding agent is mixed in completely with the small aggregate stone. All stones are coated in resin and stick to each other throughout. This will provide a strong surface where the aggregates will stay in place much better and still allow water to pass through whilst resisting weed and algae growth on top.
Resin Bonded Driveways
A resin bond driveway in nor permeable as a solid layer of resin is poured and then the aggregate stones are poured on top of this. As a result you have a surface which will not allow water to pass through which means thinking about other soakaway options and the aggregates have a lower amount of resin adhesion with many of the top level aggregates becoming loose after a short period of time.
Block Paving Coventry
Block paving continues o be a popular and timeless classic driveway option and one which provides a large amount of versatility and options. The are many different bricks of block so you can choose a style with matches a modern front garden design or choose a more traditional almost cobble stone brick which will work superbly with a period or cottage style garden.
Since you can mix and match blocks easily there can be an almost infinite number of ways to personalise a block paving driveway in Coventry - even to the extent of including a symbol, image letter or number within in it - as effectively you are creating a giant floor mosaic. The blocks themselves can be laid in a variety of configurations with the most popular being Herringbone, Stretcher Bond and Basket Weave.
Most driveway jobs will include some aspect of block paving as the blocks themselves provide an excellent way to contain and frame other more fluid driveway materials whilst they are poured our such as resin, tarmac and concrete.
You can use block paving on sloping gardens and depending on the jointing compound used can be permeable or non permeable which again means it will almost always be an option for any driveway.
Pattern Imprinted Concrete Coventry
When pattern imprinted concrete is first laid down it provides one of the most stunning driveways. The final seal provides a shiny clean finish and with so many colour and pattern options you will be able to find a style to go with any garden theme. Unfortunately as well as being available in many colours and patterns it has also resulted in a number of names being used for the same thing:
Imprinted Concrete
Patterned Concrete
Pattern Imprinted Concrete
Printed Concrete
Pressed Concrete
Stamped Concrete
Well, fortunately whichever term you use the driveway team at DNA Landscapes can install an imprinted concrete driveway, path or patio to match the style of your garden.
Indian Stone Driveways Coventry
Whilst block paving has been common place for driveways for decades the use of concrete slabs has historically only been used in driveways were a few slabs have been laid on top of grass to provide a non-muddy base as a quick and cheap way of keeping the car from getting stuck in the mud.
However, with the number of options and driveway grade Indian paving stones being readily available this is become a really great options to have a fantastic looking driveway at a reasonable price. Care needs to be taken to ensure that the Indian stone pavers have been set on a solid sub base , which we always do, and once down you've got a driveway which will last for years with relatively little maintenance required.
Gravel Driveways Coventry
Whilst the use of gravel and chippings for driveways is on the decline at the expense of the other driveway types mentioned above it can still work well in certain garden styles and help with overall garden budgeting. The other aspect which we don't see enough of is the use of chippings for part or sections of a driveway which can be an excellent way of reducing total costs and creating a driveway with character.
Ideally for a driveway you will want the area where your car's wheels are in contact with the floor to be a solid option but if you have a long thin entrance driveway using chipping in between two channels of resin, block paving or tarmac will allow you to perhaps have resin where you really want and need it rather than removing it as an option altogether based on cost.
As mentioned, as landscapers we can bring much more to the driveway party - so get in touch today to see how we can help you achieve the perfect driveway solution for your budget.
